Hi Missguided fans!
My name is Fritha and I usually blog over at Fish Tank Fashion (www.fishtankfashion.com). I am thrilled that Missguided have asked me to be their guest blogger this month and can’t wait to share my fashion-related ramblings with you guys!
I thought I’d start off by using my first post to show you some of my favourite trends from the catwalks for Spring/Summer 2012, and how you can get the look for a tiny fraction of the designer price by shopping at Missguided.
So first up..
Trend 1 – Baroque prints

Think over the top combinations of chains, scrolls and leopard print – the kind of patterns you find on silk scarves. This is typical of Versace (first catwalk image) but has also popped up in many other places, including D&G (second two images).
There are lots of amazing scarf and baroque print items available at Missguided at the moment to suit all styles. The Clairi saddle print top £14.99 would look great with jeans for a casual outfit, the Dido skater dress £15.99, is perfect for those of you who are more girly, and the the Merrill shorts £23.99, will be great for when the weather eventually warms up (but they’ll still look awesome with opaque tights for now.) This trend is quite “in your face”, so if you’re not quite daring enough to wear whole items of clothing in the baroque print, why not try incorporating a printed silk scarf like this one into your outfits? I’m a big fan of wearing scarves as hair accessories, and if you want some inspiration for different ways to do this, I’ve filmed a video about different ways to tie them. (Watch Video Here)
Trend 2 – Colour block
Colour blocking, particularly with pastels, is going to be a big trend this year, as seen at (l-r) Mulberry, 3.1 Phillip Lim and Preen. Missguided has loads of items that you can mix and match to get the look, from statement blazers like the Violetta Blazer £24.99, to the pretty lace Aldara dress £24.99, which comes in a huge range of colours, and the Kyrah skinny trousers £19.99. Even if you don’t want to go all-out and combine different colours, these pieces would be really easy to work into your existing wardrobe to provide a pop of spring colour.
Trend 3 – Metallics
Metallics, particularly silver, were spotted at (l-r) Giles, Christopher Kane and Marc Jacobs. These aren’t high-shine metallics, they have a softer matte finish. Get the look at Missguided with the Margrett foil tee £13.99, Roxy metallic skater dress £19.99, and the Claretta shimmer trousers £18.99. Don’t think that metallics have to be kept for night time, these pieces would look great dressed down for day with a chunky knit or a leather jacket.
Do any of these trends take your fancy? I can’t wait to try them all out! If you have any questions for me you can tweet me here, and make sure to check back next Monday when I’ll be styling up some Missguided clothes myself.
Until then, Peace, Love and Fashion,
Fritha xxx
