We caught up with Dominique to talk dream collabs, fave artists and what’s on the agenda for 2017…
Tell us about yourself…
I’m an artist, songwriter, and producer based in NYC.
What does a day in the life of Dominique look like?
My life pretty much revolves around my music. I work a restaurant job, but when I’m not there, I’m writing, producing, recording, or trying to promote.
When did you first realise you wanted to make music?
I was 15 when I first became interested in it, but I knew I wanted to pursue it as a career at age 20.
How would you describe your sound?
High-energy electronic indie with pop melodies.
What’s the best gig you’ve ever played?
I’m actually still getting my live set together, so as of now my live show experience mainly consists of my high school chorus concerts and small acoustic sets I used to play years ago.
If you could collaborate with anyone who would it be and why?
Felix Snow, who’s produced many Kiiara songs and is a part of Terror Jr. I’m amazed at how much he’s influencing pop music right now. His production is very stripped compared to a lot of music right now, but each sound he uses is incredible and unique.
Who did you listen to growing up?
Queen, Yes, Paula Cole, The Killers, Outkast, to name a few…

Who’s your biggest musical inspiration?
I really look up to Charli XCX. She has such incredible talent and totally dominates the pop songwriting scene.
What’s your guilty pleasure track?
Steal My Sunshine – LEN
What’s the last album you listened to all the way through?
Crybaby – Melanie Martinez
What’s been your career highlight/proudest moment?
It was really awesome hearing Huw Stephens play my track “Bottled Up” on BBC Radio 1, then Ebro play “Love You Better” on his Beats 1 show less than a week later.
Who’s the coolest person you’ve worked with so far?
I’ve been working and producing with an artist named Raine on her next releases and it’s been one of the best experiences.
Who are you listening to at the moment?
Tove Styrke, Sigrid, Terror Jr, Emily Vaughn, Allie X
What advice do you have for aspiring artists trying to break into the industry?
Rejection is a part of the process and don’t let it discourage you. Shamelessly ask everyone you can find in the industry for advice. Listen to as much pop music as you can take.
You can only listen to one album for the rest of your life, what is it?
Miike Snow – Miike Snow
Where can we see you perform next?
I will definitely be having a show in NYC in the next few months, and hopefully a show in London not too long after.
What’s on the agenda for the rest of 2017?
Release a few singles, play a few shows, work with and produce for other artists. I’m also putting out a collaboration that I worked on with Superwalkers while in Sweden in January very soon!
