#womancrushwednesday: @theslumflower

If you haven’t heard of this weeks #wcw Chidera Eggerue, aka @theslumflower, then where have you been?! At age 23 Chidera is from South London and her Instagram handle comes from the concept of a rose growing through concrete, inspired by her life living and growing up in Peckham.

She’s an award-winning blogger, has been making waves on social media for a while now, her book ‘What A Time To Be Alone’ is available to pre-order now and you might have seen her on daytime TV. Chidera challenges societies negative perceptions of women and especially black women, she is on a mission to encourage women to love themselves for themselves and embrace their flaws. Chidera’s campaign #SAGGYBOOBSMATTER is taking over the internet, check out some of our favourite things about her below!

Chidera’s recently been featured on the Dazed100! This is ‘the definitive guide to the people whose moment is now’. In the past, the Dazed100 has featured anyone who is making waves in the creative, fashion or music industries and championing a diverse and inclusive range of people. Chidera often speaks on her Instagram stories about body positivity, this includes empowering black women to love and embrace their natural self. Chidera has been dealing with traction alopecia since she was 19 and she has made a documentary with BBC Newsbeat to explore hair loss in young people. the time she ACTUALLY became a work of art

We LOVE this artwork by Jana Augustin, aka @te_hana_art. Jana draws and celebrates strong women, we think her work is absolutely incredible and if you’re not following her make sure you do!
