How to celebrate Mother’s Day at home
Easy ways to create a DIY Mother’s Day treat
Just because we are in lockdown, doesn’t mean that we can’t celebrate Mother’s Day. If you live with your parents, there is loads you can do to make her feel appreciated this Sunday.
Your fancy afternoon tea may have been cancelled, but you can always recreate it at home. It’s time to crack out the Mr Kipling French Fancies, create your best jam and cream scones and pop a bottle of Prosecco. By creating your own afternoon tea, you don’t have to endure the cucumber sandwiches, you can make the food you actually want to eat.
Even if the spa is closed, it doesn’t mean that you can’t have a pamper session. If there was ever a time that we needed to unwind, it’s now. Order some face masks online and even a gel nail kit if you want to splash out. Spend the day listening to relaxing music and get to work on your home treatments.
Nothing says ‘Sunday’ like a long walk and a roast dinner at the pub. Put on your hiking boots and take to the countryside, then when you get home, make her the ultimate Sunday Dinner with all the trimmings. If you don’t class yourself as a Nigella in the kitchen, you can even ask your local pub if they are doing a takeaway service.
Breakfast in bed
Breakfast in bed is a staple on Mother’s Day and there is nothing stopping you from treating her! Don’t hold back, create the ultimate brunch club for you to enjoy together. We’re talking french toast, avocado, full English, whatever she wants.
Make future plans
Some of us may not be lucky enough to spend Mother’s Day with our Mums in person. Why not let her know that you miss her and buy her a voucher for a meal or day out together to spend whenever you fancy?
Turn your living room into a cinema and prepare ALL of the movie night snacks. Download your mum’s favourite film and treat her to a night of popcorn, chocolate, hot dogs or even her favourite takeaway.
If you are looking for a way to say ‘Thanks’ this Mother’s Day, then PJs and loungewear should be top of your list. Spoil her with pamper treats that she can enjoy in the house.
