What is the reverse cat eye beauty trend?
I put my thang down, flip it and reverse it
There is nothing we love more than a chic beauty trend that is easy to work into our usual makeup routines. Tiktok is the bible when it comes to discovering makeup hacks and ideas, and most recently it has blessed us the reverse cat eye.
If you haven’t spotted the reverse cat eye yet, let us break it down for you. It has the fierce signature statement of the classic winged liner, however the focus is flipped to your bottom waterline instead. This elongates the eye and gives you a smokey dramatic finish.
How did the reverse cat eye trend start
Although this may have been around for a while, it first grabbed our attention when makeup artist @paintedbyspencer posted a video on TikTok. He said “Have you tried the reverse cat eye? It’s my favorite.”
He has since posted a tutorial on his TikTok, which means that we can all have a go at the trend.
As much as it may feel alien to do in practice, the reverse eyeliner features no black liner on the eyelids. It simply features a smoked wing going from the outside of the eye, along the lower lashline, finishing in the inner corner.
Everything you need to recreate the look
Over the years, the style has been worn by celebs including Rihanna and Doja Cat. Keep scrolling to take a look at how the TikTok community are applying the reverse cat eye.
