5 Times Ariana Grande Showed The World She’s A Boss

It’s been a big year for singer Ariana Grande, filled with the good and the downright bad, but she’s shown the world what’s she’s made of when the world was watching. Happy birthday, Ari! Here’s 5 times the 24-year-old took control and owned it like the boss she is.

We haven’t all been wing slapped by a VS model. But she has.

Back in 2014, Ariana headlined the Victoria Secret Fashion Show, and we weren’t disappointed. As Ari belted out hits from the stage, a Victoria Secret Angel strutted down the aisle and accidentally hit Ari straight in the face with a giant feather wing. The internet went into meltdown mode, it was heard around the world and we think practically everybody on the planet watched the momentous wing slap. Luckily, Ariana handled it like a pro and even took to Twitter to describe the whole experience as ‘awesome’ – loving the mean girls reference.

Her Celine Dion impression gives us life

Okay, we knew she has a good voice, but we didn’t think she had this voice! Ari proved on SNL that she could match any vocal range; from Britney, Rihanna right through to Celine Dion and Whitney Houston back in 2016. She nailed every single impression like a boss and it’s something that needs to be watched 10x over. Her vocals are seriously impressive and we feel as though our ambition in life now needs to be mastering vocal impersonations.

She shouts about female empowerment and shuts down the haters when she feels like she needs to.

She’s always promoted healthy feminism and that’s why we love her. She’s one of Hollywood’s outspoken stars after standing up for Ke$ha during the Dr.Luke court case and she never shies away from the double standards debate. She’s in one of the most sexist industries, yet she’s not afraid to say what she thinks. This tweet is worth the read.

She’s all about self-love

Ariana Grande Dangerous Woman

Not only does she give fire self-love tweets, but you would have most likely seen pictures of Ari in a black latex costume with a bunny mask on – think her cover photo for her Dangerous Woman album. She said to Billboard that the Super Bunny costume “is my superhero, or supervillain — whatever I’m feeling on the day. Whenever I doubt myself or question choices I know in my gut are right — because other people are telling me other things — I’m like, ‘What would that bad bitch Super Bunny do?’ She helps me call the shots.” We’re getting major Sasha Fierce vibes and we love it. She controls what she defines as sexy and if an alter-ego helps fuel self-love, we’re all for it.

If there’s anyone that can organise a concert for 50,000 people with a 10+ artist line-up and raise £3m for emergency aid, it’s Ari.

ariana grande manchester one love

May 2017 was a shocking time for, not only Manchester, but the UK. With our HQ based in Manchester, we were in total shock over what had happened when we came into work the next morning. Even though Piers Morgan slammed her for heading straight back to Florida, Ari came back 100x stronger and shared it all with us at the One Love concert. If you hadn’t thought much of Ariana beforehand, it’s fair to say everybody bowed down to her fearlessness. She’s now an honorary Mancunian and a charity patron, and we couldn’t be happier. Plus, we totally wouldn’t complain if a One Love charity concert is held every year from now on (can we finally have an Oasis reunion?).

HBD, Ariana!
