7 places to go on holiday in the UK

So we may have all cancelled our girls’ trips to Ibiza, romantic city breaks and family holidays in Europe, but that doesn’t mean that we can’t make the most of the Summer. We often overlook the idea of taking a holiday in the UK, but there’s actually so many cool places to visit.

We’ve rounded up our top ten destinations for every type of getaway. From hiking, to sunbathing, you can still get that holiday feeling in Britain. Save money on flights, forget changing your money and leave your passport at home. All you need is your suitcase and your holiday partner.

1. Brighton

Not only does Brighton offer white sandy beaches, seafront bars and fish and chip shops galore, but it is also home to hundreds of independent businesses. Make sure you head to The Lanes and discover countless cool bars, vintage shops, food vendors and more. As soon as the sun shines, you will feel like you are on your holidays.

2. Portmeirion

If you really wanna feel like you’e on your holidays, then take a trip to Portmerion. Located in North Wales, the whole village is modelled in the style of an Italian village. You can stay in one of the hotels, or book a self-catering cottage. The village even has a traditional Italian gelateria.

3. Bath

Bath has everything you need for a romantic getaway. The city is filled with history, from preserved Roman Baths, to the life and times of it’s famous former resident, Jane Austin. With countless museums, independently owned shops and an amazing food scene, you won’t be bored.

4. Lake Disctrict

The Lake District is the ultimate destination for all the hikers, mountain bikers and thrill seekers. Whether you are an experienced walker, or you just fancy a bit of fresh country air, you will find something for everyone. Try your hand at canoeing, visit a museum or just hunker down in a cosy pub for the evening.

5. Liverpool

Soak up a bit of culture (and booze) in Liverpool. There is so much to do over a long weekend break. Find out more about The Beatles, visit the World Museum or pop into the Tate Gallery. Head to the Baltic Market for food, sample your last ever meal at Death Row Diner, or plan a big night out in town.

6. Cornwall

If you want a beach holiday, then Cornwall is your place. You can take surfing lessons in Newquay, swim in rock pools or just sunbathe on the beautiful beaches. With LOADS of tiny fishing villages to visit and endless pasties to eat, what’s not to love?

7. London

In case it wasn’t obvious, London is one of the best city breaks ever. There’s a reason that people travel across the world to visit and we are lucky enough to have it on our doorstep. Go sightseeing to the Houses of Parliament, take a shopping day or just spend your long weekend visiting countless foodie spots.
