In celebration of Cher’s 75th birthday, we decided to take a look at some of her most iconic outfits throughout history. Throughout the decades, Cher has been known for pushing the boundaries of fashion and never being afraid to take centre stage with her looks.
The gobal pop sensation rose to fame in the 1960s, as part of the husband and wife duo, Sonny and Cher. Since then, she landed countless top 10 hits and even won an oscar for her role in the movie Moonstruck.
Raised by her mother in California, Cher and her family didn’t have much money growing up, and was even placed in an orphanage when her mum was at the hardest of financial struggles.
At the age of 16, she left school and met her future husband, Sonny, at a coffee shop, eventually getting married in 1964. The couple worked on a duo act and soon released ‘I got you babe’ which shot them to fame. This was the start of Cher’s legendary music career. The couple were known for their boho hippy style, and soon established themselves as two of America’s biggest stars.
In the run up to their divorce, Cher went solo, releasing her infamous tune Gypsies Tramps and Thieves. Her success continued and she even laded major acting roles in films such as Moonstruck and The Mask. Her career never slowed down, with big hits like Do You Believe and starring roles in Burleque and Mama Mia 2, it’s easy to see why she is considered one of the biggest stars of all time.
Cher also has a strong presence on Twitter, taking no prisoners with her witty humour and sarcastic tone of voice.
