Habits To Adopt In 2nd Lockdown
Day drinking is a habit, right?
Even though it might not feel like it, life is your oyster in lockdown number two. For all those begging when is lockdown over, think of it this way. When have you ever had so much spare time to pursue your passions and habits you’ve always dreamed of starting? However, now is not the time to push yourself. For all our girl’s scrolling TikTok for 10 mins, then realizes it’s been 6 hours – we know you’ve seen the posts all about starting a business in lockdown and becoming a millionaire in 20 mins. We want to normalize that doing nothing in lockdown number two is absolutely okay if that’s what you want to do.
Developing your habits and interests is a good way to start. Read that book you’ve never had time for. Go on that hike, and bake those dreamy cookies you’ve been drooling over for months. Every step you take no matter how small is a big win. Even if you’ve not outdone Jeff Bezos’s business strategy this year. Taking time for yourself is still a BIG win.
Why is having a habit important for lockdown?
Adopting a hobby can do wonders for your mental health any time of the year, let alone lockdown. It’s safe to say that everyone is struggling with pent up energy this lockdown. So, finding a safe way of releasing that energy can reduce anxiety and stress, along with adding a new creative skill to your repertoire.

Become a cooking + baking queen

Start reading + join a book club
This season of Towie has got us feeling the book club vibes. There are so many reading communities on Instagram for the latest book finds and reading library reviews. We are missing so much social interaction this lockdown. So, having weekly catch-ups online is a good way to add structure to your life. Even though it might not seem like it, you are learning and developing so much through reading. Even by skimming a simple book. You are stretching your mind, which, is pretty dried out thanks to all the Netflix sessions.
Become a DIY expert
Stop lusting over everyone’s home transformations on social media and DIY it, girl. What have you got to lose? There are so many inexpensive ways to uplift your home decor and transform your home on a budget. Change up your paint colour, switch out your throw cushions, and change your prints. Before you know it. Your whole environment has changed. So, if you’re desperate to feel refreshed this lockdown, get doing it yourself.
Zen yourself with some yoga
Mental health is extremely important right now. With less social interaction and much more time indoors. It’s no surprise that learning Yoga is pretty much at its peak this year. Studies show that practising yoga regularly can help reduce anxiety, improve concentration, and boost yourself overall. The benefits of yoga are amaze. Make sure you don’t just dive in headfirst. Start with the basics on YouTube. It’s not like you don’t have the time.
We really need to start normalizing continuing a hobby even if you’re not that that good at it. If you want to do it, just do it, girl. So, get the canvas out and start painting. Whether they get put on your wall of fame, or in the bin. Who cares? However, if your artistry really is shocking, why not try painting by numbers for adults (or kids, we won’t judge). Let your creativity flow this season. Paining can be a positive outlet for all of our emotions this lockdown.
