Who run the world? Influential Women To Look Out For In 2018

If, like me, you remember the start of 2017 as if it was yesterday: think again. 2017 was the year Beyoncé had twins, Gemma Collins fell through a stage at Wembley and we finally got justice for Barb with the return of Stranger Things 2. As we draw even closer to the end of the year, it’s a time to look back at the best bits but also time to get excited for what’s to come.

2017 has seen the rise of so many young models, artists and musicians. Most have been on our radar for a while now but we predict they’re going to do bigger and better things in 2018. Watch this space.

Dua Lipa

You’ve probably listened to her songs on the radio, or most likely heard her music when you’ve been out at 3am on a Saturday night. Don’t pretend that you don’t know every word… She’s also just coming to the end of an extremely successful world tour, and if you didn’t catch her behind the scenes photos on Instagram, then get to know. Her outfits are always fire and major inspo for us right now.

Jorja Smith

Another huge inspiration on the music scene, Jorja Smith has been noticed by the likes of Jools Holland – where her version of ‘Don’t Watch Me Cry’ gave us major chills. She’s done a collab with the likes of Preditah, and was nominated as Best Newcomer at the MOBO awards. Watch out because she’s going to do even bigger and better things come next year.

Pyper America Smith

If you don’t know Pyper America Smith, we can guarantee you’ll know her brother Lucky Blue Smith *insert heart eyes emoji*. Pyper is part of a talented family, she plays bass in the band The Atomics, where her sisters sing and play guitar with her brother on the drums. Her indie rock look stands out –  take note of her flawless style and even more flawless selfies.

Simi Haze Twins

These DJs are currently breaking the internet with their talent and style. Friends with the likes of Kendall and Kylie Jenner, as well as Bella Hadid, you’ve probably seen their faces before. Their Instagram is major goals and makes us wish we had a twin just as cool as they are.

Slick Woods

If you don’t know who Slick Woods is, what planet have you been living on?! This model of-the-moment recently fronted Rihanna’s Fenty beauty campaign, has been photographed by the world’s top photographers and is all over our social media feeds. The ultimate cool girl is like no one else -we can’t wait to see what she brings in the new year.

Cailin Russo

Brought to fame featuring in Justin Bieber’s music video ‘Confidence’, you might not have heard of this girl on the rise. At age 22, her voice is distinctive and her R&B style likeable by all. She has the ultimate Cali cool-girl look combined with the talent to match. Keep your eyes peeled for more to come.

Duckie Thot

Duckie Thot is the Australian-Sudanese model everyone is talking about rn. Her first modelling job was for Kanye West and not many can say that. You’ve probably seen her hanging out with Slick Woods, or repping Rihanna’s Fenty x Puma collection. This hard-working model doesn’t take a break, expect to see a lot more of her come 2018.

Paloma Elsesser

She’s been doing major work for a while now, you might have seen her in Nike or Rihanna’s Fenty Beauty campaign. At age 25, she’s changing the way we view models who are above the typical model size. She doesn’t mess with words like “chunky” or “thick” to describe her, she’s redefining fat as an insult because she’s much more than just her appearance. See her bringing more inspiration and empowerment into 2018.

Amanda Steele

This actress/model/entrepreneur/vlogger is hot on our radars at the mo, her YouTube channel MakeupbyMandy24 has nearly 3 million subscribers and an Instagram following to match. She covers everything from beauty to fashion and travel, and this cool-girl is making us have major make-up envy.

Nadia Lee Cohen

A director, photographer and also model, Nadia has built a name for herself over recent years. She recently directed a music video for A$AP Rocky, Juicy J and D.R.A.M, as well having major exhibitions and doing regular work for Hunger Magazine. She’s not afraid to #freethenipple – catch her making serious waves in 2018.
