Paris missguided

Key places to visit:

Eiffel Tower (obvs)

Notre Dame Cathedral

Arc de Triomphe

Moulin Rouge

Le Louvre

Bars you need to go to in Paris:

Noemie Polet, our Parisian babe who works as a Site Executive for France, gives us the lowdown on the bars you need to visit in Paris.

Dirty Dick – yep, you heard right and it’s not what you’re thinking. Specialising in Tika cocktails with a Latin-Caribbean atmosphere, you’re guaranteed a good time. A drink is around 15 euros each, so you might need a small loan to cover a night out in this place, but it’s Paris after all!

Batofar: Located on the Seine, it’s been donned as the ‘nightclub on a boat’. It’s spread across two floors and features cutting-edge techno, electro and after hours dance parties. Get us there now.

La Recyclerie – Located in a former railway station, take in views of old railway tracks from the long terrace. Here they focus on renovating old spaces to bring them back to life. They have a seriously huge wine menu and that alone is good enough for us.

Comptoir Général – If you were to visit one cocktail bar in Paris, make it this one. Comptoir Général is a shabby chic barn with two shadowy rooms filled with quirky decor. It’s out of the touristic circuit, located off the Canal St Martin, so expect cocktails around 7 euros and 6 euros for a large glass of wine. Top up, please!

The restaurants you need to visit in Paris

pink mamma paris

Pink Mamma – It’s a new restaurant that has only recently opened up in Paris but already it’s accumulated a vast amount of insta snaps. It has a quirky interior with ivy and orange trees as the choice of decor, a huge glass skylight and they serve up steaks, shrimp, pizza and watermelon gazpacho. Make sure your phone battery is 100% charged before you head here.

Cantine California – A taste of America in Paris. This place is pretty popular with Parisians, so you won’t be forking out tourist prices. Specialising in burgers and tacos, they also accommodate gluten free foodies.

Restaurant H – You all need to splurge on a fancy meal in Paris. It’s got a certificate of excellence, recently been awarded Michelin star and rated 5* on TripAdvisor. Maybe lay off the expensive wine, unless you want to go bankrupt, but the seven course meal is enough to create food envy everywhere.

Paris Cabarets

moulin rouge

Cabarets in Paris is a perfect excuse to get dressed up. Whether you’re planning the ultimate girls night out or you’ve persuaded your bf to head to a cabaret venue (congrats babe, that would have been hard work), then expect glitz, glamour and some seriously fire dresses.

Moulin Rouge – Easily the most famous cabaret,  Moulin Rouge is grl power with added champagne. Insider tip: if you’re planning on drinking, buy a package that includes champagne. Individual drinks can be the most costly so watch out for this. Also, book to watch the show later in the evening where prices are significantly cheaper, thank us later!

Le Lido – This is the largest cabaret out of them all, so be prepared to spend a small fortune. Top tip! If you book a package deal, mentioned above, you actually get better seats. Give us all the champagne.

Actually useful tips from a Parisian:

Pick-pockets are rife in Paris, especially in the underground. If you have a habit of putting your phone in your jean back pocket, get into the habit of making sure it’s in your bag instead. No iphone – no insta snaps. Seriously, it’s not worth the risk.

Remember your student card. As said above, you can get discount if you’re aged 18-25, but a student card can give you further discount on the touristic hot spots.

Stay well away from restaurants and bars located right near the main tourist sites, unless you want to spend more dollar than you actually need to. You’ll find hidden gems further out or around the back streets of the city.

Not that you would even consider renting a car in Paris, but when you’re around the Arc de Triomphe, take the underpass to get there. Don’t cross the craziest roundabout in Europe. It’s the stuff of nightmares – seriously.

Using the metro? Buy a carnet – a set of 10 metro tickets . It’s often the best value of choice for travellers

No one has time for waiting in long queues. Book your tickets for the Eiffel tower, The Louvre and other destinations in advance.

If you’re after a city view, don’t head up the Eiffel tower. After all, what’s an insta snap of Paris without it featuring the tower? Check out the views from the top of Notre Dame or the Arc de Triomphe.

Drink plenty of cocktails, splurge of fancy meals and fill up your insta with some fire views.
