Tell us about yourself…

I’ve been making music for over 15 years now which is scary but the set up hasn’t much changed from a desktop computer in my teenage (now not teenage) bedroom. I do now have a dedicated room but it’s still a home studio with a desktop computer at the centre. Over the years I’ve experimented with so many sounds and there are so many influences to my sound but it all hinges around electronic production.

Your music is amazing, which has been your favourite to record so far?

Thank you! Apart from my own records (cheap plug for Millionaire- buy now!) The best ones are the most fun ones and the track that I wrote for Galantis, ‘No Money’ is probably my favourite. It was just myself and a good friend and frequent co-writer called Bully messing about with fun melodies and lyrics. And then we had his 10 year old son record it who stayed on the record which now has over 200 million streams.

What’s the biggest inspiration behind your sound?

Food…Seriously though I’d have to say that I just want to make records I know people will feel good listening to. If I can have an effect on culture at the same time that would be an amazing bonus. But for now I’m just focusing on making people smile and dance. And I get free food sometimes.

Who inspires you?

I really look up to the big writers and producers of our time such as Stargate, Max Martin, Calvin Harris, Dr Luke, Benny Blanco etc. They are prolific and have managed to stay at the top of their game for so long in such a competitive market and its not by co-incidence. They’re constantly at the forefront, developing their sound and re-inventing music.

How would you describe your aesthetic and how does it inspire your music?

I don’t try and think about that or define what my aesthetic is. Most days I’m sat in a room with another writer and/or producer and we start by listening to and chatting about music that we’re currently enjoying. From there we try and find some mutual ground and then figure how we can drive inspiration from that to write the biggest track possible in that lane.

Who’s the coolest person you’ve met so far?

I’ve been fortunate to work in the room with Will.i.am on quite a few occasions over the last year and he’s insanely cool as he’s involved in so many fascinating projects. I’ve no idea how he manages to stay on top of them all but he does and yet he remains very down to earth about it all.

What’s the best gig you have ever played?

Last year we got to play in the main room at Warehouse Project in Manchester. We were opening so we expected it to be just a tame warm up type set but the crowd were insane and every track we dropped just went off and we could really feel the energy. I hope we get to play there again.

Where can we catch you playing next?

This weekend we’re playing at NASS festival in Bath on the main stage and there are a couple of other festivals in our diary this summer. All our dates are on our Facebook page.

What’s on the agenda for 2016?

There’s another single coming out following ‘Millionaire’ which I’m super excited about. I’m continuing to write and produce for others as well and so have records coming out that I’ve done for Anne Marie, Noah Cyrus, Jones and Will.i.am.

Who would you like to collaborate with and why?

I think it would be mad to get in a room with Coldplay. I’ve no idea how that session would work but I reckon we’d come out with something sick. Maybe one day!

When did you discover you loved your genre music and why?

Um 1992?….No idea really. It’s just happened naturally. I actually love bands like Radiohead, Muse etc. But I somehow ended up in the dance/pop world. The key moment for me was at Uni when I really felt this could turn into a proper career.

Who are you listening to at the moment?

Right now I’m really into the new Jonas Blue and JP Cooper track. It’s a surprising collaboration but really caught my ear. Radiohead are one of my favourite bands ever and their new album A Moon Shaped Pool hasn’t disappointed. I also love Twenty One Pilots and of course Coldplay- it’s absolutely phenomenal how they literally reinvent themselves every single album.

What’s the song that gets you pumped up at a party?

That Kungs song ‘This Girl’ that has been everywhere so far this summer is such a huge summer party hit. If that doesn’t get you dancing you probably shouldn’t be at the party.

Other than that- probably the Peppa Pig theme tune – Banger.

What’s your favourite music video?

 Lonely Island – I’m on a Boat.

What has been your favourite place you’ve travelled to?

I was flown out to Bucharest recently to work with an artist called INNA. I had no idea what to expect but they put me up in the best hotel in town which was this incredible 5 Star palace and I got to eat in amazing restaurants. It was better than any holiday I’ve been on.

Would you rather have no Wi-Fi for the rest of your life or never be able to fly anywhere again?

Wi-Fi is like the 5th basic element after Earth, Air, Fire and Water. If I couldn’t fly I guess I’ll just wait for teleportation to become reality – can’t be long now?

What’s your spirit animal?

Pig. Obviously.

What makes you laugh?

British politics.

Do you have any secret talents?

I make amazing smoothies. If anyone comes round I’ll happily make you one.

What’s your secret addiction or guilty pleasure?

Chocolate – but that’s not a secret.

Who’s your celebrity #WCE?

No idea what this means!

What would be your superhero power?

Eat to infinity whilst being able to have a body like Channing Tatum

What was the first thing you did thing morning?

I was bursting for the toilet as I drank a lot last night and I had to sprint to make it. It was exhausting so I went back to bed after.

Tell us something weird about yourself that no one else knows…

I applied for an internship at Universal recently for no reason. I actually got the job.
