#MISSGUIDEDDISCOVERED: ELI & FUR
Start your week out right with a playlist from DJ duo Eli & Fur. We caught up with them to chat DJing, fave gigs and what’s on the agenda for 2017 ahead of their set at Beat-Herder in July.
Tell us about yourself…
We are a DJ duo from London, we met at school. We have opposite characters and interests which makes our friendship and working relationship even more interesting. We spend our days playing shows and making music and we love every second of it.
What does a day in the life of Eli & Fur look like?
We’ve been in the Red Bull London Studios for a few months so it’s been a change to have a routine. Going in every day and making music till the early hours has been awesome. About to head off on an American tour, those days usually start with a flight, checking into a hotel, napping and snacking, going for a wonder, making some tunes in the hotel room and checking emails etc, exploring the city, grabbing dinner, heading to the club, playing our set, partying, sleeping and then doing it all all again! We love to get some studio time in on the road too, will be doing that in LA. It’s always inspiring to make music in different cities.
How would you describe your aesthetic and how does it inspire your music?
We love anything that communicates some sort of powerful emotion, has depth, a story behind it and can withstand time. This applies to a lot of aspects of both our lives and our music.
What’s the best gig you have ever played?
Space Ibiza for Carl Cox Revolution was one that was really special, it was an amazing experience, the energy that night was crazy and seems even more magic seeing as we will never play Space again. It was such an amazing club and to be part of the last year was a dream.
Who would you most like to collaborate with and why?
We would love to do a session Max Martin, It would be so interesting to work with someone so talented at writing pop songs. That’s always been an interest for the both of us as we started out songwriting before djing. Pharrell would be pretty cool too. We also love Black Coffee.
Why do you think the relationship between fashion and music is so strong?
Both are such powerful and artistic ways to express yourself. They come hand in hand.
