interview nervo

How would you describe your aesthetic and how does it inspire your music?

Fun & fresh. Mim can be a little more tomboy at times.

What does a day in the life of NERVO look like?

At the moment we are in the studio a lot. So a normal studio day involves us getting up at 8am, doing an hour of emails, rushing to the studio so we are there by 10am and then working solidly on music until 6pm. We have about 30 minutes off for lunch where we do a few more emails, but overall, we are very focused when it comes to studio days and don’t like to be distracted by other things. At 6pm we go home, have dinner with friends or family and then repeat it the next day.

Who’s the coolest person you’ve met so far?

Ah, we’ve met so many cool, exciting, wonderful people. From our best friends who we’ve known for 12+ years to the inspiring visionaries like Richard Branson. We feel like we are so lucky to work and survive in the entertainment industry because generally speaking, everyone is very passionate about what they do. Being around passionate and exciting people is very inspiring.

What’s the best gig you have ever played?

We have been lucky enough to play at so many great gigs but a stand out gig for us was Tomorrowland Brazil, 2016.

Who would you like to collaborate with and why?

We would love to collaborate with people like Chris Martin (for his use of melody, it’s hauntingly good), Skrillex (for his production & writing skills… he is one of the best sound & production geeks around) Jill Scott (for her luscious vocals and lyrics), Eminem (for his words and personality), Jack Johnson (bc we are in love with him lolz)… the list goes on and on and on.

Why do you think the relationship between fashion and music is so strong?

It’s all a form of creativity and expression. We are excited by things that are new, sounds that are different, artists of all genres and realms.

What’s your favourite music video?

We annoyingly don’t watch many music videos these days but if I had to pick out one video that stands out in my mind… OK Go ‘Here It Goes Again’. That video was hilarious! Also, Basement Jaxx’s ‘Where’s Your Head at’ or Fat Boy Slims ‘Weapon of Choice’. That was a great time for music videos!
