Rachel Foxx Q+A
How have you been keeping yourself busy in lockdown?
I’ve been working on music from home, I’ve recorded so much new stuff, I can’t wait till everybody gets to hear it
What was the moment when you realised that you could turn your love of music into a career?
I think the moment it all clicked for me is when I realised i couldn’t keep a job, and then I flew to Germany to film my COLORS show and the rest was history. I went straight into live shows and then I realised I could actually earn a living from this.
What’s your favourite ever night out as an artist or attendee?
My favourite thing to do is dinner, I love going out to eat, I’m a proper foodie. My favourite restaurant is Nobu.
Who is the number one artist you would love to collab with and why?
At the moment I would say Usher or Bryson Tiller. Usher because I just think he is an R&B legend and is forever relevant, he just doesn’t get old. I grew up listening to his voice and I find his vocal layering so soothing. Bryson Tiller because he really is the epitome of new school R&B, he stays true to himself as an artist and kept a consistent sound, ever since the first time we heard him on ‘Don’t’.
Did you have a musical family growing up?
It’s so weird because no one in my family is actually musically talented but I they all had great taste in music, which I had the pleasure of growing up listening to. My family have always supported my career by kind of just letting me get on with what I’m doing, I’ve never felt the pressure of my parents telling me to do something academic or super serious. My mum is super chilled and loves my art.
