The cardigan comeback…
How to make cardigans look cool

Calling all cosy gals. Cardigans are back and they are actually cool. Gone are the days when cardigans were reserved for grandmas and school uniforms, the good old cardie is a fashion staple for 2021. These comfy layering pieces are no longer considered boring, drab or old fashioned, in fact quite the opposite.
Since we entered lockdown last year, our wardrobe choices have changed. We have swapped strappy and sexy for comfy and cosy, this includes the re-introduction of the humble cardigan to the cool-girl’s wardrobe.
2021 cardigan styles feature loads of spring pastel shades, co-ord sets, dainty floral embroidery and tie-front detailing. These cardigans are like the old-school favourites, but reimagined for the TikTok girls and the Y2K obsessives. Discover women’s cardigans that need to be on your radar for Spring 2021.

Cool cardigans and how to wear them…
The tie front cardigan
Tie front cardigans were one of the first we started seeing on our insta feeds and for you pages. They are an easy way of making your knitwear look dressy. Team them with a pair of wide leg jeans and trainers for an easy fashion-girl look. Top tip, if you struggle to find a bra to go with these cardigans, try tying the strings either side of the middle point of your under-wiring. This will hold it in place all day.

The lounge cardigan
Level up your loungewear with a comfy chunky knit cardigan. If you often treat yourself to cute strappy loungewear sets but end up throwing an old hoodie over the top for warmth, a cardigan is the perfect alternative.

The cardi co-ord
Dress up your cardigan game with knitted co ords. These layered looks are ideal to transitional seasons when it isn’t quite warm enough for a strappy top, but still too warm for a coat. They look cool with jeans and also work with a preppy tennis skirt and trainers.

The basic cardigan
If you are looking to start a cardigan collection, but don’t know where to begin, a basic cropped cardi is the ultimate starting place. Opt for a neutral tonal shade such as brown, black or nude and slowly build up your colours. You’ll soon wonder how you went without cardigans for so long.

The vintage-look cardigan
We are taking Granny chic to the next level, with beaded styles, crochet knits and pastel shades. Team these styles buttoned up with pale wash jeans and trainers, or wear them open over a summer dress with chunky black boots.

The long cardigan
The long cardigan is the dressing-gown lover’s dream. These maxi styles look cool with jeans and a tee, as well as being the ultimate accessory in your loungewear wardrobe.
