New Year, New Knit

Christmas is officially over, and we’re less about the hotline bling and more about wearing more and going out less (sorry Drake). Unfortunately, the weather is going to stay freezing for the foreseeable, so now is the time to start investing in some solid fashion knitwear to see you through winter and beyond. We’ve rounded up this edit on what’s new in knitwear this year, with the key layers you need to own RN. Can we get an amen?

Slouchy knit

For the cooler climes, say holla to slouchy knits, set to be big this season. Keep it chic in off the shoulder styles or look to oversized fits to amp up the comfort factor. Look to wintry hues like mustard yellow, burgundy, forest green and rust orange. If you’re adding layers, sling on a cable knitted jumper over your dress or layer up with a slouchy cardigan and ankle boots.

Cropped Knit

Not quite ready to let go of your skin-showing summer outfits? Compromise is key here babes, nobody wants you catching hypothermia. Why not opt for the perfect middle ground: A cropped jumper. This look will keep you warm when the weather changes but still looks cute (and lets you show off those abs). Wear with mom jeans and trainers.

Go oversized

When is sweater weather ever complete without an oversized jumper dress or cardigan? Easily the most covetable winter outfit when the weather isn’t playing ball. Throw-on pieces are an absolute must when you need an extra bit of time in bed in prep for those dark AF mornings. Style an oversized knit with a belt for a warm outfit that’ll also win you fashion points.

Not feeling brights? Get knitted out this season in neutral shades. Look out for ribbed knits, cropped styles and turtlenecks. These pieces go with practically everything – from a high-waisted jeans kinda day to sporting with a black vinyl skirt, necking shots on a Friday night. Neutrals are season all-rounders so you won’t have to pack away until the sun’s back out next summer.

Go for a sporty look with a sweatshirt, and keep to red, hot pink and baby blue hues to make it look like you’re feeling winter when you’re actually not.
