Following the government announcement, you will be able to meet one other person from outside your household on the 8th of March, so it’s time to finally meet that Hinge match you’ve been texting throughout the whole of lockdown 3.0. If you are planning a park date or a walking date, but you aren’t sure what to wear, we got you covered.

Meeting someone for the first time can be nerve wracking, especially because the pressure has been built up over the last month of being trapped inside. Usually you would grab your jeans, nice top and favourite pair of heels and meet your new beau at a bar or coffee shop, but since the hospitality industry isn’t opening any time soon, a walking date is the only option. Why not grab a bottle of wine and two separate cups to take on your trip? Or head to your favourite coffee shop for a takeaway latte before sitting on a bench and getting to know one another. However you decide to do your socially distant date, we’ve got the clothing ideas covered.

Outfit ideas for a walking date

A walking date doesn’t have to involve a hike up Snowden, why not head to a local park, grab a few snacks and take a leisurely stroll whilst getting to know one another? It might not be quite warm enough for a proper picnic yet, we wouldn’t say no to a couple of coffees or cans of gin and tonic.

The key to nailing a walking date outfit is to keep it cool and casual. You want to strike that balance between looking like you have made an effort, without overdoing it. Shackets are an easy trend to style, ideal for the occasion. Team them with a pair of wide leg jeans, trainers and cute hat. Fancying something a little different? Then maybe opt for a faux leather jacket with chunky boots, tights and a cute dress. Take a look at our influencer outfit ideas below.

Statement jacket

Unlike most dates where to take your coat off as soon as you arrive, a jacket is the main part of your walking date look. Style a statement coat over a casual outfit and throw on some accessories.

The longline coat

A long coat is an easy way to formalise any casual look. Add a long fur coat or shacket to your casual outfit, with a few accessories such as a statement bag or cute hat.

Lowkey layering

Show off your style whilst still being casual, with a layered look. An oversized shacket with a shirt and loads of jewellery is an easy way to go. Add your fave trainers and a pair of sunglasses.
