How getting up and getting dressed can improve your productivity
During lockdown, it can be a struggle to feel productive. Days are merging into one and motivation to do ANYTHING is dwindling. Our top tip to boosting productivity is getting dressed.
Whether you’re working from home, furloughed or currently out of work, a productive mindset can improve your mood and ensure that you feel ready for the day.
Increasing Productivity WFH
Working from home in your pjs from the comfort of your bed may sound like the absolute dream, but structure is so important at times like these. There is nothing wrong with a pyjama day, as long as it doesn’t turn into a pyjama month.
One easy way to boost your productivity is to create yourself a ‘working from home wardrobe’. This doesn’t mean wearing a stuffy shirt and pencil skirt to sit at your dining room table, but it allows you to separate your ‘work’ and ‘leisure’. Opt for something comfortable, you’re at home, so make the most of it. Choose a selection of jumpers, joggers and tees that are purely dedicated to work.
Ensure you make your bed, take a shower, get dressed and save half an hour for a coffee and breakfast before your 9am start. This will give your morning a little structure. Avoid rolling out of bed at 8:55 and logging on to your laptop in a panic.
Increasing Productivity When You Aren’t Working
Even if you aren’t working from home, getting dressed in a morning can seriously improve your mood. Try to create yourself a routine, whether this revolves around your meal times, your daily exercise or even your favourite TV show. Adding a little structure can make the days go quicker reduce the feeling of endlessness.
