MGHQ unicorn profiles: our general counsel and company secretary
Name: Bhavisha Mistry
Title at MG: General Counsel and Company Secretary
Been at Missguided for: 2 years, 1 month
About me: I pride myself on not being a typical lawyer – I am 4ft11”, Asian and female. Whilst it is certainly important to know your stuff in the field, you don’t have to adhere to stereotypes. The suit doesn’t make you knowledgeable – your knowledge makes you knowledgeable. I believe with hard work and determination you can be anything that you want to be.
I love a bit of Reality TV – KUWTK, Real Housewives of Beverley Hills, Cheshire Housewives – it’s all for me. Beyonce is my girl and there’s nothing I find more satisfying than dancing to a bit of Rihanna after a few glasses of champs!
Missguided allows me to combine these personal passions with my love for the law. As General Counsel and Company Secretary, I head up the legal department and am responsible for all legal and governance matters that affect the business. Some of the most exciting things that I have been involved with are our contracts with celebrities and setting up our incredible flagship store.
The job is a dream come true and I never imagined that a career in law would end up taking me here. I wanted to be a successful lawyer and I worked extremely hard to build up the skills, knowledge and experience to become one.
