How to host a virtual halloween party
Time to re-download zoom…
Let’s face it, Halloween isn’t going to be the usual drunken night with crazy outfits, glowsticks and inconspicuous green-coloured alcohol shots. This year it’s going to be a little different. Whether you are a student in self isolation, a young person living at home or you are trying to make a big night in for the family.
Whether your Halloween celebrations are virtual, or in person with your housemates, you can still make the most of the holiday.
Hosting a virtual Halloween party
If you are the host of the party, try and make it as cohesive as possible, so each person feels like they are experiencing the same thing. Set up a theme for the costumes and all share a virtual background such as a haunted house or a scene from your favourite horror movie.
Try muting everyone and playing music for a virtual costume competition. Let each participant show off their costume to a Halloween-themed playlist and vote for your favourite in the chat.
You can also host quizzes on themes such as Horror films, serial killers or Halloween trivia. Try using apps such as Kahoot, which allows you all to play together.
If you want to go all-out this Halloween, why not make some Halloween cocktails together? Send the ingredients list round ahead of the call and create them at the same time.
If you wanna have a bit of a chill, there is no better way to do this than watching a horror movie. If you all download Netflix Party you can stream the film at the same time as your friends whilst on video call. Grab the popcorn and a pillow to hide behind and enjoy the jump scares simultaneously.
